The cremé de la cremé from Charter Oak Winery ...
Six bottles of Robert Fanucci’s favorites. Includes one bottle of each:
2018 Guido Ragghianti Old World Field Blend
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from 4 different vineyards in the Napa Valley, consisting of the Frank Leeds Vineyard in Rutherford, certified organically grown, Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon grown high above St. Helena and on Zinfandel Lane and the dynamic Coombsville Appellation Cabernet along with 25% organically grown Petit Verdot from the Rutherford Dalla Gasperina Vineyard and the Papina Vineyard in St. Helena. A total of six different vineyards contribute to this mosaic masterpiece. A huge wine - deep, dark, concentrated, dense and decadent with seductive liquor flavors of backed blackberry, hints of black cherry, dark chocolate mocha, tobacco and swirls of wild berry flavors. Pairs nicely with grilled and roasted meats and hearty Italian pasta dishes. Only 12 barrels produced and ready to drink. One of my favorites.
2017 Napa Valley Old Vine Petite Sirah
The 2017 Petite Sirah is a powerful, full-throttle Petite Sirah with firm but softening tannins on the back palate uncommon among Petite Sirah’s produced today. Dark blackberry with strong dark chocolate espresso mocha finish. Will age gracefully over the next 20 to 25 years. Will develop nicely in the bottle with additional bottle age. The Charter Oak Napa Valley Old Vine Petite Sirah from the Old Vine David Fulton Petite Sirah Vineyard in St. Helena is integrated with a splash or two of Petit Verdot from the ancient Papina Vineyard, grown along the railroad tracks in St. Helena.
2018 Matilda Ragghianti Nonnie's Red Blend
The 2018 Matilda is a distinctive and richly layered blend of five different grape varietals consisting of Stag’s Leap Cabernet Sauvignon, Old Vine Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Old Vine Zinfandel. Enormous wine, dark, inky, full throttle and in your face. Powerful and explosive blackberry and exotic fruit flavors, baked spice and dark ripe plum that swirl and lingers in your mouth. Hints of expresso, black tea and licorice. Incredibly smooth and silky for a blockbuster wine that is Out of This World. Crack open a bottle for the holidays and see for yourself. The Matilda continues to mature and soften with age. Matilda was 100 years old when she died in 1999. Only 10 barrels produced.
2018 Zinfandel Mind TZM
Sourced from our Charter Oak Estate and Old Vine Zinfandel from the Papina Vineyard in St. Helena along with Old Vine Petite Sirah from the David Fulton Vineyard in St. Helena planted in the 1860’s. Dark, rich, juicy and bold, spicy and sexy with scents of cracked black pepper, showcasing strong hints of blackberry preserve, blueberry, raspberry, Bing cherry liquor and boysenberry pie notes. A huge wine of grace and elegance with a zesty lingering finish. This wine will do a dance on your tongue and encompasses a rainbow of wild exotic concentrated dark fruit flavors. One of the biggest TZM’s ever. Featuring International Artist and winemaker’s wife Layla Fanucci’s artwork. This wine is ready to drink tonight. Release the genie from the bottle. Only 10 barrels produced.
2016 Guido Ragghianti Old World Field Blend
A majestic and royal blend of uncommon proportions reaching a new dimension, and hitting a flavor note an octave higher than any other previous vintage of the Guido. Deep, dark and decadent with seductive liquor flavors of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry and swirls of wild berry flavors but elegant on the palate. Extremely well balanced and integrated fruit flavors. The 2016 Guido is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot from the Dalla Gasperina and Frank Leeds Vineyards in Rutherford and Old Vine Petite Sirah from the historic David Fulton Vineyard in St. Helena along with a splash of Cabernet Franc. Pairs nicely with grilled and roasted meats and hearty Italian pasta dishes. Continues to age gracefully in the bottle. Limited availability.
2014 Uncle George Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark majestic color. One thinks of dried black cherry, deep red rose pedal, crushed clove, dried cocoa powder and a touch of mint chocolate. Following a lovely sweet, soft entry, flavors on the palate suggest a very solid core of black currant, ripe red cherry pie, and red licorice, with just a touch of caramel and anise. The ripe tennis, which are very, very finely textured, give the wine a polished, almost creamy feel that is never drying. A lingering finish is highlighted by an echo of this generous fruit core.
