2016 Guido Ragghianti Old World Field Blend, Library Wine
A majestic and royal blend of uncommon proportions reaching a new dimension, and hitting a flavor note an octave higher than any other previous vintage of the Guido. Deep, dark and decadent with seductive liquor flavors of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry and swirls of wild berry flavors but elegant on the palate. Extremely well balanced and integrated fruit flavors. The 2016 Guido is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot from the Dalla Gasperina and Frank Leeds Vineyards in Rutherford and Old Vine Petite Sirah from the historic David Fulton Vineyard in St. Helena along with a splash of Cabernet Franc. Pairs nicely with grilled and roasted meats and hearty Italian pasta dishes. Continues to age gracefully in the bottle. Limited availability.
2017 Guido Ragghianti Old World Field Blend, Library Wine
The 2017 is deep, dark and decadent with swirling flavors of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry and wild berry. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Frank Leeds Vineyard in Rutherford and Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon grown high above St. Helena, Petit Verdot from the Rutherford Dalla Gasperina vineyard, St. Helena Cabernet Franc and Zinfandel from our Estate Vineyard in St. Helena. The 2017 Guido is reminiscent of the 2016 Guido blend but with a generous addition of St. Helena Cabernet Franc and Estate Zinfandel from the Charter Oak Vineyard. With the addition of Zinfandel, the Guido does a lively dance on the back of one’s tongue. What a super blend that packs a whooping punch but elegant with a captivating lingering finish. I recommend popping the cork on this beauty. The Guido wine will age gracefully over the next 10 to 20 years.
2018 Guido Ragghianti Old World Field Blend
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from 4 different vineyards in the Napa Valley, consisting of the Frank Leeds Vineyard in Rutherford, certified organically grown, Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon grown high above St. Helena and on Zinfandel Lane and the dynamic Coombsville Appellation Cabernet along with 25% organically grown Petit Verdot from the Rutherford Dalla Gasperina Vineyard and the Papina Vineyard in St. Helena. A total of six different vineyards contribute to this mosaic masterpiece. A huge wine - deep, dark, concentrated, dense and decadent with seductive liquor flavors of backed blackberry, hints of black cherry, dark chocolate mocha, tobacco and swirls of wild berry flavors. Pairs nicely with grilled and roasted meats and hearty Italian pasta dishes. Only 12 barrels produced and ready to drink. One of my favorites.
