Dark majestic color. One thinks of dried black cherry, deep red rose pedal, crushed clove, dried cocoa powder and a touch of mint chocolate. Following a lovely sweet, soft entry, flavors on the palate suggest a very solid core of black currant, ripe red cherry pie, and red licorice, with just a touch of caramel and anise. The ripe tennis, which are very, very finely textured, give the wine a polished, almost creamy feel that is never drying. A lingering finish is highlighted by an echo of this generous fruit core.
The old world and new world collide to produce this exceptional wine. The fruit sourced for the Uncle George Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a small one-acres Stag’s Leap Hillside Vineyard, farmed and manicured by Giovanni Olivieri whose family were early Italian immigrants to the Napa Valley as well as Cabernet and Petit Verdot from the Rutherford Bench.
